Star Trek: Discovery is CBS All Access show that got the first look treatment at San Diego's Comic-Con during the Star Trek 50th Anniversary panel. It just goes to show that even after 50 years, the Star Trek franchise is still going strong. Gene Rodenberry's vision of the future is so positive and optimistic that it is just what we need today when the future looks bleak as hell. The new series is helmed by Bryan Fuller, which could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your perspective. Discovery is the name of the ship and it is unclear what the show is about other than the standard bunch of Federation star explorers going around doing stuff in outer space. This first look shows us the ship and not much else but it's pretty cool.
Mainly because it is clear that the production value on the show is going to be solid. Clearly CBS has taken all that money they make off of all those old people watching Blue Bloods or whatever to pay for the series. We've come a long way from the cardboard sets and purple-haired aliens of the original series.
