Neil Gaiman's legendary novel American Gods is coming to Starz next year as a TV show. For years there have been rumors that they might make an American Gods movie or show but it's always gone ta-tas up. It took Svengali Bryan Fuller to bring it to the small screen. It tells the tale of a battle between the old gods, the deities from traditional religions, and the "new gods" Americans have created in our modern technological world. Ian McShane plays the mysterious Wednesday. I won't tell you who he really is because that would spoil the fun. The show looks ominous, complex, and with a sense of humor, just like the novel.
I wonder what Neil Gaiman thinks of the series? For years he was reluctant to let anyone adapt it. Clearly he believes in this project if he gave them the go ahead. Unless he doesn't own the rights in which case it's anyone's guess.
