There are plenty of lists of the hottest athletes at the 2016 Rio Olympics, but there have been decades of hotness before these games. Instead of focusing on the present, here's a look at some of the hottest Summer Olympic athletes of the past, from America and beyond.

Amy Acuff

Slim, trim American high-jumper Amy Acuff competed in five Olympics, from 1996 through 2012. She never medaled, and she failed to qualify for the 2016 team. That's OK, though -- she has several other careers, including tech entrepreneur and model. She posed for Playboy in 2004, even appearing on the cover.

Susen Tiedtke

Before relaxing on the sand, Susen represented Germany in the long jump in 1992 and 2000. She appeared in the same issue of Playboy as Amy Acuff.

Fatima Moreira de Melo

Fatima was a midfielder on the Dutch field hockey team. She won a bronze in 2000, a silver in 2004, and gold in 2008. Her hockey days are over, but she's a huge poker fan, playing online at PokerStars. Apparently she also likes snakes?

Margherita Granbassi

Margherita has three qualities: She's beautiful, she's Italian, and she's deadly with a blade. She won the bronze medal in fencing for Italy in 2008.

Gail Devers

In spite of -- maybe helped by? -- her super-long fingernails, Gail won gold medals in track in 1992 and '96. This is even more amazing because she was diagnosed with cancer in 1990 and almost had to have her feet amputated. At the age of 40, she was still competing, beating the reigning Olympic champion and setting a world record.

Alicia Sacramone

Alicia was on the US gymnastics team that won the silver medal in 2008. This lithe blonde is married to NFL quarterback Brady Quinn.

Nicole Reinhardt

German beauty Nicole won a gold medal in 2008 in the overlooked sport of canoe sprint. She can also be found in Playboy magazine.

Heather Mitts

Heather won three gold medals as part of the US women's soccer team. She also models, and was named "Hottest Female Athlete" by ESPN.com. Like Alicia Sacramone, she also married an NFL quarterback: A.J. Freeley of the Eagles.
