‘South Park: The Fractured But Whole’ Slips to 2017

  South Park-loving gamers just can’t catch themselves a damn break. Back in the day, games based on the show were monumentally, catastrophically shit. That FPS that saw you throwing piss-soaked snowballs at giant mutant turkeys to kill them? I’ll tell you where you can shove that.  

Now, true enough, South Park Rally was the only kart racer that ever let you fire prostitutes at your rivals which gave them herpes on impact. It has that in its favor. But honestly, as far as legit competitors go, Mario Kart had very little to fear.

Even sadder than this, maybe, is a truly great South Park title that takes freaking ages to arrive. Remember the excruciating wait for South Park: The Stick of Truth? We knew we were onto something damn good here, but the super-snarky RPG was delayed and delayed and delayed. I’d tell those of you eagerly awaiting follow up The Fractured But Whole that I’ve got some bad news for you, but you probably already see where I’m going with this.

I’m afraid so, Ego-friends. As Ubisoft’s Blog reported yesterday:

‘South Park: The Fractured But Whole will now launch on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC, calendar Q1 2017. The development team wants to make sure the game experience meets the high expectations of fans and the additional time will help them achieve this goal.’

So there it is. The old kick-you-in-the-ass-while-putting-a-happy-PR-spin-on-it-all routine. This is probably just the beginning, friends. I sense a familiar pattern emerging.
