I’ve already admitted to you good Ego-gents that I quite liked the Resident Evil movies. I’ve squared with that, I’ve come to terms with it, and I’m comfortable with that part of myself. As far as guilty-ass little secrets go, it’s much more harmless than, say, having a collection of human eyeballs in my refrigerator. Â
Laser grids chopping special agents’ scrotes into spam? Milla Jovovich high-kicking undead dogs in the face in Matrix-y dramatic slow-mo? More action movie clichés than in Arnold Schwarzenegger’s entire back catalog? What’s not to like? Bring on next year, I say.
If you didn’t know, or if you saw the announcement and quickly repressed all memory of it, because you thought the previous films were a bit of a shitshow (which is fair enough, I know I’m pretty well alone on this one), I’ll tell you again: There are two Evil movies releasing in 2017. One live action, one animated.
While the live action movies do their own damn thing, the animated movies take place in the same world as the main series, mostly filling in gaps between the games. The latest is Resident Evil: Vendetta, featuring series stalwarts Chris Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy, a creepy-ass mansion and a whole lot of zombies. Nothing too groundbreaking there, then, but this first trailer looks pretty sweet to me.
It's only confirmed to be coming Japanwards for now, hence the text, but it's probably hitting the rest of the world too. Check it out anyways:
