‘Gears of War’ Movie In The Works; I’m Clenched For Inevitable Disappointment Already

Well, damn. It looks like it was official Gears of War week here at Egotastic Gaming. We’ve seen huge and badass replica Lancers, a custom console that doesn’t make we want to cry tears of sad, disappointed blood, and we thought it was enough. But hell no. When it comes to a big ol’ blockbuster release like this, there is never too much coverage. Ever.

What else is happening down Gears way? A movie, that’s what. Which is a damn bold mood whichever way you slice it. This is dangerous territory for any game franchise to move into, after all, as anyone who’s seen any of Uwe ‘Boll-ocks’ Boll’s craptacular movie adaptions will tell you.

Still, if anyone can do it, Gears of War probably can. I can only envision a movie based on this franchise as a sort of futuristic Predator with more aliens, and that’s really not something the world should be without any longer.

New Line attempted a Gears film a while back, but it was cancelled after years of being dicked around in production. According to Heroic Hollywood, Universal have got themselves the rights this time, and Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark are producing. That’s all we’ve got to go by so far, but this is a project to keep one ogling eye on as it unfolds for sure.

Just don’t do the whole Warcraft thing again. I don’t think my ass could take it.
