Ronald McDonald Is Latest Casualty Of Clown Epidemic

For over fifty years Ronald McDonald has been entertaining/creeping out generations of kids. He has been a loyal mascot to the fast food juggernaut, their most recognizable face. He even has a famous charity organization named after him. When I was a kid I used to love the commercials with him and his McDonaldland friends. The Hamburglar would steal Grimace's Happy Meal and Ronald would catch him with the help of the Fry Guys or whatever. It was fun. What isn't fun is the recent rash of clown related crimes and incidents reported across the country. People dressed as clowns have been terrorizing towns, making threats to schools, and trying to lure children into the woods with promises of candy and money. Schools have been shut down after threats called in by clowns. It's a terror, but the latest victim is none other than Ronald McDonald himself. 

McDonalds has decided to bench the clown until this whole clown craze dies down. They said in a statement that "The current climate around clown sightings in communities" has led them to be "thoughtful in respect to Ronald McDonald’s participation in community events." This is perhaps the clown criminal's greatest act of terror. Ronald McDonald is more than just a corporate trademark, he's an American institution. This clown nonsense needs to stop.
