In this day and age it seems like most movies are shot in front of a green screen on a soundstage in Vancouver, so it's nice to see a film like The Mummy come along and actually travel to the many locations where the film takes place. The behind the scenes video seen above shows off the many locations in the film such as the deserts of Namibia and the heart of London, because you honestly can't fake that kind of thing and have it be believable.
There's plenty of nits one could pick with this upcoming reboot, but the fact of the matter is that they seem to be doing a lot of things right. Say what you will about Tom Cruise, but the guy makes solidly entertaining movies. I defy you to tell me that Edge of Tomorrow wasn't the best action movie of 2014, despite it's absurd title. I feel like his involvement elevates this ever so slightly above the average summer blockbuster fare.
Another great thing about The Mummy is that its running time is 107 minutes. Seriously, when is the last time you got out of a big budget, non-animated film in under two hours? Even with trailers this thing won't cross the two hour mark, which is a pretty impressive feat in this day and age. The Mummy opens on June 9.
