‘The Batman’ Director Promises a Noir-ish Detective Story (VIDEO)

Ever since Wonder Woman gave people a sense of optimism about the future of the DCEU movie universe, a lot of attention has been focused on Ben Affleck's solo Batman flick, tentatively titled The Batman. Director Matt Reeves, who is currently doing the promotional rounds for his latest film War for the Planet of the Apes, has had to endure all sorts of questions about the film lately and hasn't really given away much of anything until now.

In the above interview—with a Brett Ratner lookalike from something called New Trailer Buzz—Reeves gives the first hints of what we might expect from the first post-Nolan Batman movie, and fans will be happy that he'll be getting back to the character's detective roots...

“There’s a chance to do an almost noir driven, detective version of Batman that is point-of-view driven in a very very powerful way, that will hopefully connect you to what’s going on inside of his head.”

Granted that's not a whole lot to go on, but it's certainly the first tangible clue as to what the shape the film might take. It's difficult not to get excited about a full on Detective Comics version of Batman on-screen, which is arguably the one big thing we have yet to see from the character in his previous big screen adventures. We've got a while before the film comes out, so there's sure to be more information over the next few years, but what do you guys think?
