The Super-Awesomeness that was Smallville’s 100th Episode

I don't usually blog about my adventures in TV-watching, because, well, I watch a lot of TV. I mean A LOT! And also because usually TV is good, sometimes it's crap, but most of the time, it doesn't really hit that super-awesome spot that makes you just want to blog your heart out about it. But this week, there was some serious super-awesomeness that came in the form of Smallville's 100th Epidode. And here's my Egotastic! recap of every awesome moment of this super-awesome episode.

Which you can read after the jump, cuz it's long, but really good, so read it. And in case you didn't figure it out already, massive spoilers follow, so read at your own risk, but read it, cuz it's really good.

And, as a limited experiment, comments have been opened for this post, so you're free to write what you like.

Will Toale is Aquaman

The WB is moving ahead with it's pilot for Aquaman, based on the Smallville episode which featured a storyline with the character. Newcomer Will Toale has been cast in the title role, but there isn't too much to say about him, because he really is very new. Variety reported the news which is found via AquamanTV.com

"In the search for Aquaman, we saw over 400 people in England, Australia, Canada and several U.S. cities," series co-creator Alfred Gough told Variety. "We saw Will's tape over Christmas, and he was the only guy we took to the network."

"We call him 'the much-maligned Aquaman,' but when we first pitched Smallville, Superman was considered cheesy," Gough said. "In the comic, Aquaman's the lost king of Atlantis, but in our version, he is Arthur Curry, this twentysomething who owns a dive shop."

As long as we get to see Erica Durance in her bikini again, you can be sure that I'll start watching this show, but it's gonna take more to viewers (even this viewer) hooked. Hopefully this one will be more like Smallville, and less like Birds of Prey.

Superman Returns Teaser Trailer

Besides being an extended comercial for Ford's new car, tonight's episode of Smallville was awesome. The fight between Clark and Professor "Braniac" Fine was great, and so was the very last second of the episode, alluding to Jonathan Kent's impending death. Of course, anyone who knows anything about Superman knows that Martha Kent will be around for a long time to come.

The best part of the night, however, was the first look at the Teaser Trailer for Superman Returns. I can't even begin to describe what the fanboy inside me (but that's pretty much all of me) felt when watching it. But you can feel it to...

Superman Returns Teaser Trailer on Smallville

It's late (or is that early), and I don't much feel like typing anymore, so here's the scoop from Superhero Hype.

During the episode of "Supernatural" tonight on The WB, the network announced that the new Superman Returns teaser trailer will air during Smallville on Thursday. The show airs at 8/7c.

The teaser will be online that night at 9/8c. It will also play with select screenings of "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," which opens in theaters on Friday.

Rest assured, Egotastic! will be bringing you the trailer the second it is available. Until then, why not check out the very cool fan-made trailer for Superman Returns.

Update: The Superman Returns Teaser Trailer is now online.

New Aquaman Series Coming to The WB

Superhero Hype has let us know that Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, executive producers of Smallville, are developing Aquaman for The WB. The character of Aquaman, or "A.C.," played by Alan Ritchson, was introduced this season on Smallville, in very memorable episode, but I'm not sure there's enough meat there to support a whole series. Remember "Birds of Prey" and "Tarzan"? Of course you don't. Anyway, let's not write it off just yet. There is some potential, and if they can manage to get Erica Durance back into a bikini, you know it's going to rock.

The new project is envisioned as a contemporary reinterpretation of the DC Comics character who lives in the deep sea and enlists sharks and other oceanic creatures to help him in his crime-fighting endeavors.

Erica Durance Pictures and Video from Smallville

How awesome is Smallville this year!? Not only is Erica Durance taking her clothes off every other week, but the story lines have been really good. I do think, however, that the pop culture references are being a little over used. Last week they had Carrie Fisher and James Marsters guest starring so they obviously had to do a bunch of Star Wars and Buffy the Vampire Slayer references. Those were alright, "Project 1138" was a nice touch and so were the "Buffy Sanders" and "slaying Buffy the Vampire" bits. Plus Clark's whole first-time cape-wearing experience was funny. But this week's inclusion of Tom Wopat from Dukes of Hazzard, and all the dumb car gags that came with him were definitely on the "too much" side of things. If they cut out the over-the-top stuff, and stick with the fun Superman in-jokes, this season will probably be the best yet. And, oh yeah, we need to see way more of Erica Durance doing the whole minimal clothes thing.

More Erica Durance Pictures from Smallville

It seems like you all like Erica Durance as much as I do, so I know you'll like these promo pictures from the November 3 episode of Smallville, entitled "Exposed." Here's the synopsis:

Jonathan's oldest friend, Senator Jake Jennings (Tom Wopat from Dukes of Hazzard), comes to Smallville looking for support in his re-election campaign, but is framed for the murder of his mistress, requiring Lois (Erica Durance) to go undercover as a stripper.

Update: Now with super high res pictures!
