A Completely Uninformed Interview With The Guy Who Writes for ‘Common Law’

Every now and then in the cheese and dairy aisle at the warehouse superstore, we run into one of the guys who helps make the TV shows or movies you watch and we corner them into answering some highly uninformed questions that reveal our own idiocy about the business.

Tim's TV writing background ranges from South Park, a show for stoned college kids, to Medium, a show that was made mostly for elderly, bed-ridden women in the final months of their existence, so he's got some range. And now he's been charged with helping to re-invent the black and white buddy cop genre into a brand new bit of fun and intrigue and despite the fact that he smelled distinctively like Peppermint Schnapps at eleven o'clock in the a.m., he seems up for the job.

Former Obama Speechwriter Gets A Sitcom Commission

NBC have struggled to compete with other TV networks over the last couple of years. So their decision to commission President Obama's former speechwriter Jon Lovett to make a sitcom about family life in the White House could be seen as an attempt by the company to simply generate some publicity.

1600 Penn will star Josh Gad, most famous for his performance in Trey Parker and Matt Stone's Book of Mormon, as the out-of-control eldest son of Bill Pullman's US president. Pullman's First Lady is to be portrayed by Dharma and Greg's Jenna Elfman.

NBC has ordered 13 episodes of the show and Lovett has revealed that the comedy will not be based on any stories from his experience in the White House. So don't expect many jokes about the authenticity of Pullman's nationality then.
