Frank Langella as Perry White
Well, well, well, Blue Tights (the official Superman Returns info site) is reporting that Frank Langella is in and Hugh Laurie is out as Perry White, chief editor of The Daily Planet. Frankly, I'm not sure either one of these guys is the best man for the part. I'd go with Langella in terms of acting muscle, but Laurie has more of the look (a little scrawny, though). In terms of curmudgeonly newspaper editors, I don't think it'll ever get any better than J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson in Spider-man. It's too bad that the original Superman movies were a career killer for Jackie Cooper, he was a great perry white.
Don't forget to check Langella out as acting coach Goddard Fulton in HBO's Unscripted, and, of course, as SKELETOR! in Masters of the Universe!
