Alicia Keys has just signed a deal with UPN to produce a television series based on her childhood. Although similar in concept to Everyone Hates Chris, which is based on Chris Rock's youg life, Keys' show would not be a comedy, reports MTV.

Although Keys probably won't be acting in the show, she is beginning an acting career of her own, having just finished Smokin' Aces alongside Ben Affleck, Jeremy Piven, and Ryan Reynolds. And it looks like she's really getting into the whole process.

"When I was her, I was her," Keys wrote. "What she went through, I was really going through. I understood her. Her insecurities became mine, her anger became mine, her past and what shaped her to be who she is, became me. It was like I had no reservations, no hesitations, I just walked and talked and thought like her. ... Through her, I was able to express a side of me that I never really have, but has always been deep within in some way."

Well, we'll see if her acting skills compare to her musical abilities, but if they do, she should be in store for a big career in acting. Until then, more pictures of Alicia Keys after the jump.
